Introducing the Pentax ME Super 35mm Film SLR Camera with the Asahi Optical Co. (AOC) Super-Multi-Coated 50mm f/1.7 Lens, a remarkable combination of classic design and advanced imaging capabilities.

The Pentax ME Super is an easy-to-use, fully manual 35mm film SLR camera that boasts a reliable and accurate TTL metering system. This system allows for accurate exposure measurements through the viewfinder, ensuring optimal results in various lighting conditions. The camera features a built-in CdS light meter, which reads the light levels and displays them as an aperture value and shutter speed recommendation.

The Asahi Optical Co. (AOC) 50mm f/1.7 Super-Multi-Coated lens is a prime lens that offers a wide aperture and excellent low-light performance. Its fast maximum aperture allows for beautiful background blur, making it an ideal lens for portraits and landscape photography. The Super-Multi-Coating reduces lens flare and ghosting, ensuring crisp, clear images with accurate colors.

The Pentax ME Super camera body is built with a durable, lightweight aluminum alloy, making it a perfect companion for photographers on the go. It features a convenient film advance lever, a rewind crank, and a film reminder dial to keep track of the number of exposures. The viewfinder is bright and clear, offering a 98% frame coverage and a magnification of 0.95x.

The Pentax ME Super and the AOC 50mm f/1.7 lens offer a timeless and authentic photographic experience. The manual controls, accurate metering system, and high-quality lens make this combination an excellent choice for photographers seeking a balance between classic design and modern performance.

The Pentax ME Super 35mm Film Camera with the Asahi Optus 50mm f/1.7 Lens is a classic photography setup that offers several advantages and disadvantages for photographers.

Advantages:

1. Manual Control: The Pentax ME Super is a fully manual 35mm film camera, providing photographers with complete control over their images. This can be especially beneficial for those looking to develop their skills and achieve a greater level of artistic control.

2. Sharp and Bright Lens: The Asahi Optus 50mm f/1.7 lens is known for its sharp images and ability to capture a lot of light. This makes it an ideal lens for low-light situations and for creating images with a pleasing depth of field.

3. Build Quality: Both the camera and the lens offer solid build quality, which can make them durable and long-lasting. This can be a significant advantage for photographers who value reliability and durability in their equipment.

4. Affordability: Compared to modern digital cameras and lenses, the Pentax ME Super and Asahi Optus 50mm f/1.7 lens are relatively affordable. This makes them a great option for photographers who are just starting out or for those who have a limited budget.

Disadvantages:

1. No Autofocus: Since the Pentax ME Super is a manual focus camera, it requires the photographer to manually focus each shot. This can take some time to get used to, especially for those who are accustomed to autofocus systems.

2. Film Processing Costs: Film processing and development can add to the overall cost of each photograph. This can be a significant disadvantage for photographers who shoot frequently or in large quantities.

3. Limited Creative Control: While the Pentax ME Super offers a great deal of manual control, it still has certain limitations. For example, there are no preset shooting modes, which can make it more challenging for some photographers to capture certain types of images.

4. Lack of Modern Features: The Pentax ME Super does not have any modern features, such as image stabilization, high ISO performance, or wireless connectivity. This can make it less suitable for certain types of photography, such as sports or wildlife photography.

Conclusion:

The Pentax ME Super 35mm Film Camera with the Asahi Optus 50mm f/1.7 Lens is a classic photography setup that offers a unique blend of advantages and disadvantages. Its manual control, sharp lens, solid build quality, and affordability make it a great option for photographers who value artistic control, classic aesthetics, and a budget-friendly setup. However, its lack of autofocus, film processing costs, limited creative control, and lack of modern features may make it less suitable for some photographers. Ultimately, the decision to buy this setup comes down to personal preferences and photographic style.

Recommendation:

If you are a photographer who values artistic control, classic aesthetics, and a budget-friendly setup, then the Pentax ME Super 35mm Film Camera with the Asahi Optus 50mm f/1.7 Lens is definitely worth considering. However, if you require autofocus, high ISO performance, or wireless connectivity, then you may want to consider a modern digital camera instead. Additionally, be prepared for the additional costs associated with film processing and development.

Details:

If I had the tools and skills would fix it myself but don't. I attached pics of a YouTube vied that explains it. I put fresh batteries epx76 in and there is film it. The problem is common with these cameras and the issue a small gear attached to spring where has failed now stuck in position prevent advance lever from advancing.

It is in great condition except the advance lever cannot move through its full travel. But for anyone who knows what they re doing its a relatively easy fix.
