The KMZ Moskva-5 Moskva Mockba-5 Rangefinder 6x9 Camera is a vintage gem for photography enthusiasts. This Soviet-era camera boasts a timeless design, exuding an aura of classic elegance and craftsmanship. The body is constructed of durable metal, giving it a sturdy feel, while the leather-covered handles provide a comfortable grip.
The Moskva-5 is a rangefinder camera, which means it uses a separate optical viewfinder and a separate focusing mechanism. This system allows for quick and accurate focusing, making it ideal for capturing candid moments or for street photography. The camera features a 6x9 format, providing a unique aspect ratio that produces panoramic-like images with stunning detail and depth.
The lens on the KMZ Moskva-5 is a 50mm f/3.5 Helios-44M-4, known for its distinctive "swirly bokeh" effect. This lens is famous for its ability to create a dreamy and soft background while keeping the subject in sharp focus. The camera also comes with a built-in rangefinder, allowing for precise focusing without the need for a separate viewfinder.
The camera operates on 35mm film and features a shutter speed range of B, 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60, 125, 250, 500, and 1000. It has aperture settings from f/3.5 to f/22, giving photographers a wide range of options to control depth of field. The camera also has a self-timer and a built-in flash, adding versatility to its capabilities.
The KMZ Moskva-5 Moskva Mockba-5 Rangefinder 6x9 Camera is not just a tool for capturing images, but a piece of photography history. Its unique features, classic design, and iconic lens make it a must-have for any serious collector or photographer looking to explore the world of vintage photography.

2. Excellent build quality: The camera has a sturdy and well-built body, which is made of metal and has a leather cover.
3. Large film format: The 6x9 format offers a larger image area than traditional 35mm or medium format cameras, resulting in more detailed and sharp images.
4. Rangefinder focus: The camera uses a rangefinder focus system, which allows for quick and accurate focusing without the need for a viewfinder magnifier.
5. Versatile lens mount: The KMZ Moskva-5 uses a M39 lens mount, which is compatible with a wide range of lenses from different manufacturers.
Cons of buying a KMZ Moskva-5 6x9 rangefinder camera:1. Limited availability: The KMZ Moskva-5 is a vintage camera, and it may be difficult to find new or well-maintained units in good condition.
2. Manual focus: The camera does not have autofocus, so it requires manual focusing, which can be challenging for some photographers.
3. Limited compatibility: The M39 lens mount may not be compatible with all lenses, and some may require an adapter.
4. Larger and heavier: Due to its larger film format, the KMZ Moskva-5 is larger and heavier than some other rangefinder cameras, which may make it less convenient to carry around.
Overall recommendation:If you are looking for an affordable and well-built camera with a large image area, the KMZ Moskva-5 6x9 rangefinder camera is a great option. However, keep in mind that it may require some additional investment in lenses and accessories, and it may not be as convenient to carry around as smaller cameras. If you are new to rangefinder cameras or prefer autofocus, you may want to consider other options. In any case, it is essential to research and test the camera before making a purchase to ensure it meets your needs and expectations.
Details:
Shutter fires on all speeds and sounds accurate. Theres a small dent in the top plate and some minor paint loss. Rangefinder is untested but probably misaligned, most of them are on this model. There is a small bit of separation in the rear element - see pictures.
Camera and case are in amazing good condition for a soviet camera. Includes the rare 6x6 mask.
